Antecedent Scene
Desdemona’s Chamber-Enter Desdemona and Emelia
Emelia:What? Thou art marrying the Moor?
Desdemona:Hush Emelia, thou must keepith this quiet for twoud be shame to spread the word that I am marrying Othello.
Emelia:Do not fear, I will utter not a word of this wisdom. But why Mistress? You know your father would be pained to hear such news.
Desdemona:Yes, indeed he would, that is why I am keeping it secret until the time is right to tell him. Such news would pain him severly and I do not wish to bring such new unto him until I feel twoud be right to do so.
Emelia:Well this causes time for celebration! I must admit Mistress, Othello is quite the heroic war hero.
Desdemona:Aye, be that true. Never have I met such a man that thrills me so, that shows such bravery and honesty. True his age tis quite high in numbers but that matters not to me. It is his stories that truely captured my heart. Never has a mans voice captured my attention and my heart so truely. I am a lucky lass to have found a man that appreciates my thoughts and not only my beauty. Truly, I could not be happier.
Emelia:Truly Mistress, he is the apitome of a ideal husband. Find myself jealous I might if not for the reasurrance that my husband is truly honest as well.
Desdemona:Aye,true this is Emelia, you and I are both lucky to have obtained men so worthy of our attentions.
Emelia:When does thou fiancee return Mistress? Surely he has not left again for buisness of war?
Desdemona:Nay, he returns tonight.
Emelia:When do you intend to have the wedding? Not near future I presume.
Desdemona: We shall have it after Othello figures out who will fill the position of becoming his lieutenant.
Emelia: And who do you presume will have the pleasure of filling that position?
Desdemona:That Emelia, is not for your ears to hear. Come, let us not talk of buisness. We have a wedding to prepare for!
